When you’ve heard the Good News of Jesus Christ, it will change your life. Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior will be a moment you won't forget. As a church family, we want to surround you in love during this time and rejoice with you!
"In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Luke 15:10
You might be wondering what’s next? You’ve made this life-changing decision to walk with Christ. If you’ve gone through our First Steps book, there’s great information in the back about what you can do to continue to grow your faith. Here are a few next steps to be thinking of:
We just reviewed what baptism means to a believer. It’s an outward expression of your inward faith. You’ll be standing up in front of your friends, family and church congregation declaring that you are a follower of Jesus. It’s truly a special moment that the Lord invites us to.
If you’re new in the faith, one of the best ways to grow and learn more about what Jesus has for you is through small groups. If you’re attending New Life, each location has a wide variety you can choose from. It’s a great way to get to know others in your church family on a deeper and more intimate level, growing together in relationship with God.
In walking through your first steps in faith, you might have noticed that God has gifted you with something truly special. Maybe that’s hospitality or a beautiful voice. We encourage you to serve with you Church in the way that God has designed you.
When you turn to Jesus and choose to walk in faith, you’re leaving your old self behind. But that doesn't mean that you won’t be tempted now and again on what you clung to for so long. Finding a mentor you can trust will help you not only grow in your faith, but pray with you as temptation comes your way.
In Luke 5:16, we read that though crowds were coming to him “ ...Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” This is a great reminder for Christians in all walks of their faith. We need to be connected to the Father every day, all the time. The best way to do so is by setting aside quiet time daily. As schedules throw new plans our way, remain firm in the time you have set aside to spend with the Lord. Follow a bible study or create a prayer journal to aid in your walk.
Accepting Jesus is a big step. Some of these action points may seem scary or intimidating. You may be nervous to declare your faith to a crowd of people. Or, the idea of meeting new people at a small group seems challenging. However, think about your commitment to the Lord and all the good things he has planned for you. Each of these next steps will help to lead you closer to him and deeper in your faith.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” - Romans 15:13
