What are some ways you&#8217;ve found relationships to be complicated and loving your neighbor to be difficult?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 This weekend we&#8217;re talking about loving your neighbor, but tonight we started with loving God. Why do you think we need to start there first?<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Is there an area of your life that you&#8217;re hoping this weekend helps you with? Your relationship with God, loving others, a particular sin struggle, etc.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Session 2:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\u2022 In the story from Luke 10, the lawyer asks, &#8220;Who is my neighbor?&#8221; but he&#8217;s really asking, &#8220;Who do I not have to love?&#8221; Where do you see people drawing lines around who deserves kindness or compassion?\n\u2022 The priest, the Levite, and the Samaritan all saw the hurting man, but only the Samaritan moved toward the mess. What are some situations at school, home, or online where it&#8217;s easy to notice someone hurting but keep walking? And why is it so easy for us to turn a blind eye?\n\u2022 Tonight we talked about how you don&#8217;t have to agree with everyone on everything to feel compassion and show love. Why is that hard to actually live out, especially at school, social media, or out in everyday life?\n\u2022 The Samaritan didn&#8217;t just feel bad; he stopped, helped, and sacrificed. What&#8217;s the difference between feeling compassion and actually showing compassion?\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Session 3:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\u2022 We kicked off tonight by asking, &#8220;How did you get here?&#8221; Who is someone God used to move toward you and help you get closer to Him?\n\u2022 In the Good Samaritan story, we usually want to be the hero. Why is it hard to admit that we are actually more like the beaten-up man who needs help?\n\u2022 At the end, the message asks what word you might put in the blank that makes you think God doesn&#8217;t want you. What lies do people believe about themselves that make them feel too far gone for Jesus? And how might He want to speak truth over them. (For leaders, if there&#8217;s time, allow some time for students to encourage one another and speak truth in the areas where they are tempted to believe lies about themselves.)\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Session 4:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\u2022 What&#8217;s the difference between becoming \u00a0&#8220;a new creation&#8221; vs. just trying harder to be a good person?\n\u2022 Why do you think some people stop at learning they have been forgiven and never make it to the place of passing that Good News on to others?\n\u2022 We talked about how an ambassador is someone who represents. Where are the spaces you spend the most time? We will use examples from the Bible as well as a fictional character from one of Francine Rivers&#8217; books. We will discuss ways to address our own feelings of shame, distinguishing between true guilt and shame. We have two registered nurses on-site throughout the weekend to care for any medical needs that may arise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<strong>What if my student has special needs?<\/strong><br \/>\nOur hope is that all students have a true sense of belonging within our ONEYTH community and are able to attend camp. In order to best ensure the safety and fun of all our camp participants, we are asking parents to find a buddy for their student. A buddy is someone who will provide necessary assistance, in order for your student to attend camp. Our heart is for your student, with a desire that they have a safe, fun, and enhanced experience over the weekend.\n<hr \/>\n<strong>How do I get merch for my student?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe will have merch available at the camp. Please send your student with money to be able to purchase there. Credit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are also available. Each cabin will have at least two adult leaders.\u00a0<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Who are the leaders and are they background-checked?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>All leaders are carefully selected, trained, and background-checked.
