READ
1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
and put their trust in him.
REFLECT
Think of a time you cried out to God when things looked so dire there was seemingly no way out. Today could be that time. In this Psalm, God turns to David, hears his cry, and fills his lungs with praise and heart with emboldened faith. He can do (and certainly has) done the same for you. How blessed are we to serve a God he is near and hears.
RESPOND
Lord, I repent of the times I have taken your presence and provision for granted. Thank you for all the times you have shown up in my life. In boldness and humility, I pray that you do it again. May your faithfulness to me in times of trouble be a testament to your love for all to see. Amen.
