3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. 4 I call out to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.
REFLECT
David’s description of God Almighty reaching down to lift his head is beautiful beyond words. Ours is a head-down kind of world. We struggle to hold eye contact with each other let alone our Savior. Life feels easier gazing down at our shoes. Maybe it's fear or despair, hopelessness or loneliness that keeps our heads down. Whatever the cause, God is our shield, our glory, and the lifter of our head. In him, we find identity, purpose, and hope for a future.
RESPOND
You are a faithful father, a good friend, and everlasting refuge, God. When I am defenseless, you are my defense. When I am alone, you are with me. When I forget who I am, you remind me. You are all-powerful, all-knowing, and always present. I am in constant awe of your glory and goodness. Lift my head today and always. Amen.
