Day 2 – Matthew 6:25-34

READ

31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

REFLECT

Study after study has proven that anxiety is at an all-time high. More than ever, people are weighed down daily by fear, worry, and dread. Whether our worry is rooted in meeting critical needs for our families or uncertainty about the future, Jesus reminds us in this passage to seek first the kingdom of heaven. By setting our eyes above, we find strength to face the day.

RESPOND

God, not a day goes by when I am not reminded, in even the smallest way, of your goodness. The trees and breeze sing of your mercies. I pray that your peace that surpasses all understanding floods my heart and mind. Let it ease my anxieties and calm my nerves. Like a steady river, may my soul rest. Amen.
