Day 7 – Romans 12:1-2

READ

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

REFLECT

In this passage, Paul encourages his fellow Christ-followers to give their whole self in response to God’s mercies. By laying all of ourselves before his throne, we can truly worship the King. By transforming our minds, we can resist the world. In Philippians 4:8, Paul writes that believers should think about “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable.” How do your thoughts measure up?

RESPOND

Lord, I repent of the times my thoughts have strayed from what is true to your word. You know better than anyone how my mind can be my worst enemy. The ways it intensifies lies about myself, my actions, and my neighbors. Give me a sound mind, God. Renew my thoughts so I may see the world, all its misguided values and broken but beautiful people, through your eyes. Amen.
